Today’s guest is Rana, a PhD student at Linköping University with a background in Aeronautical Engineering and materials science. Her research focuses on materials and their applications in aerospace…
Uh, the teaching part of it, um, do you teach, like, the thing you research, or can it be just anything under the umbrella of what you have studied before?
However, I have to teach some material courses, which is I had no previous good knowledge about it.
So what we have done here is that I studied the course as a self-studying by myself, and I get, like, some help from the examiner or the, my supervisor also.
They help me if I ask some question, I didn't understand a certain part or something.
So mainly you do, like, some self-study, which is taking some too much time, and then you start teaching the course.
So sometimes or most of the time, for my case, I don't teach something that I'm already aware about.
Yeah, so you, you, you have to go the, to the process where you are a student before you are a teacher.
It's, it's a little bit annoying, but sometimes actually, um, depends on your supervisor.
So I take credits anyways for these courses, even if it's not, you know, like the courses that I'm planning to take in my PhD.
But because I'm studying anyway, so they are considering as studying hours or studying credits.
Do you have a background in teaching, or how, how does that feel to, to be like, "Now you're gonna teach this to people"?
Um, yes, I have weird, uh, relationship with teaching because my parents both are teachers, and I always hated t- teaching.
