Nike

that Nike has fallen from the heights that it was at, and it's worth a whole lot less today than it was

just a few years ago.

So when I was a kid, everybody wanted Nikes, and they were expensive, and it was just the coolest thing to have.

If you could convince your mom to get you Nikes for the first new pair of kicks for the new school year, you were a lucky kid.

And everybody just embraced all the superstars that were wearing them.

Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Tiger Woods.

Not a big fan of Phil Knight.

He's not in charge of a new guy.

And it, you know, commercialism, materialism was just anathema, especially to like punk and these like small progressive communities that I think some people had a really difficult time untethering themselves to that ideology because it was, you know, it's like someone you're, you sort of have to fess up.

It's a little humbling to suddenly be like, I know I've spent the last decade criticizing everyone for wearing Nikes and smoking cigarettes, but now I own a Volvo, you know, like it's hard to sort of, come off that pedestal a little bit.

But most of us just acquiesce in some ways and you're like, is this the hill I want to die on or is there more important things to focus on? You know, I don't, I still want to have like a critical, you know, be a critical thinker, but I just, music, you know, caring what bands people listen to, you know, that's a lot of energy.

Yeah.

I don't care." When you're as generationally gifted as Caleb or LeBron or Wemby or Mahomes and Josh Allen, you're not carrying a team, you're carrying a league.

Kobe was-- LeBron were carrying cities, franchises, teammates, coaches, the league, Nikes, Gatorades, and these guys are kids.

Emote, brother.

Whatever it takes, however it lands.

This is probably more information than you want about me, John, but I have particularly wide feet.

And so from being a kid, Nike shoes have never been an option.

And I have always felt uncool because I could not wear Nikes.

And I've noticed over the last couple years, the wide-footed dad shoes are in.

The New Balance 993 was one of the most popular shoes in menswear.

I don't know why they got popular.

And if we're talking about Nike, my wife always points out that she hates these dad shoes.

But she used to buy Nikes all the time.

Well,

in New York City, they've been doing it for years because they walk to work, so they wear their Nikes.

Is that what it is? Yeah.

You're all dressed up, like, you know, pantsuit, corporate, and then the shoes, the running shoes, because you're walking to work.

Now they're getting crushed in the market in terms of what their stock's done over the last couple of years.

Nike's a great example.

I bought a pair of Nikes online actually for a gift for someone.

They shipped me two pairs of the same shoe, but I couldn't return the pair because every time I gave the order number, they then said I had to send both pairs back.

So they accidentally shipped two on the same order number, even though I only ordered one.

You can't make money if you're buying stocks and they just go down.

You want to look at a stock that just goes down? You ever heard of a stock called Nike? Do you guys remember back in the 90s when everybody used to wear Nikes? Well, they don't wear it anymore.

They don't wear it anymore.

Nobody wears Nikes anymore.

And in fact, Nike is basically on its way down to zero.

Nike just fell out of the S&P 100, by the way.

It's already gone down 36%.

It can't go any lower.

I mean it was touch and go we we did say different locations and then I was waiting and I was like where is she and you're like where is she Charlie's like I

said Charlie meet by H&M at Oxford Circus right there's only one H&M Charlie texts me I'm by Nike well there's two Nikes well

Do you know why though? Because I thought you were going to come up those stairs and then be at Nike.

I mean, I don't know.
