Jeff, do you follow any of the shooty hoops?
Just college and WNBA.
So the league that finished up its season last night, I don't really follow that closely.
So Jeff, I'm
going to share this with you.
I have spent an annoyingly to other people amount of my life correcting people when they talk about this particular professional sports, literally association, that they are not a league.
They are an association.
That is how they define themselves is that they call themselves an association.
And I get frustrated when they call themselves a league because league has a very specific meaning.
And at the time of its founding, the NBA, the National Basketball Association was, was very much that the teams could play against other members or not.
That was a thing they could do in like the 40s.
And so you'll have these very wacky scheduling things.
Like, well, you didn't play all the teams.
We didn't want to.
We didn't feel like it because we didn't see the point.
Which is, again...
Also true of the National Football League founded in the 20s.
They also didn't play each other all the time, mostly for the same reasons of we didn't want to or that other team didn't have a stadium.
They played literally in a cow pasture and we didn't consider them to be on our level.
And look at them now.

Still basically the same of, we don't really have a stadium.
We share it with this other, an AFL team for some reason.
Would you
say a cow pasture or a protected, or I guess now protected wetlands was not always protected.
This is a problem.

It continues to be a problem.
Is that a step up, step down here?
For them specifically, this is a step up that it is not always protected because they're allowed to do wacky things like shut down roads so that their football team, so that the people who come to the stadium can get in without experiencing traffic.

Just to be clear.
I want to just read this to you because I find it personally very funny that the NFL is now seen as this hyper messaging focused place.
So, again, the NFL was just this place where ostensibly professional teams would just play whoever challenged them.
They played their first NFL game two months later on October 11, 1925 at the Cycledrome, Jeff.

I was like, knowing where the NFL was, there may not have been too much in the newspaper game to game.
There may just be some top-level season stuff.
