Kent State Golden Flashes football

I know it's Friday.

I know that we are very far removed from the Kent State game.

Yeah.

But we haven't spoken really since then on here.

I do think that, um, this week it's gonna be a lot more running.

However, to statistically watch Alabama average more than four yards per carry against a FBS opponent, I know a lot of it was Keylon Russell, but still good for them.

South Carolina 57, Kent State 0.

South Carolina rose into the top 20 of FPI after this performance and top 10 in efficiency due to the scope of dominance here.

Maybe some things are fixed, but I got to confess with how many games I was watching in week one, I wasn't paying too close attention to this box score or film-wise.

Ohio State beat Ball State 56-3.

And just to show the insanity of each schedule, let me read off Ohio State's schedule for you following the Ball State game.

At Texas, Kent State, Illinois, at Iowa, Maryland, at Indiana, by week, at USC, Oregon at home, Northwestern at home, at Nebraska, Michigan at home.

Obviously, Michigan isn't going to be ranked 16th tomorrow as we're recording this on a Monday, but I want to get this out pretty early.

And they got Oklahoma this weekend, so it's no rest for the weary.

I was going to ask you, how would you have felt about this game if it was Kent? Because you went to Kent.

I was thinking about this last night.

I was like, I know it's Western Michigan.

I know Lance isn't a Michigan fan.

But if it was Kent versus Michigan in that scenario, are you buying the Big Ten's Zapruder film of, oh, we had a second left on our clock, even though it didn't say it on the game clock? I'm so fascinated to know which way you're going with this.

If it was Kent, where you obviously graduated from.

Well, you know, it's funny.

Certainly for South Carolina fans, they open up with what we might call a cupcake special.

Kent State's going to be over at Williams-Brice Stadium.

That's a 12-45 kickoff.

Dylan Stewart, he's been ruled out for the opener.

There are certainly worse ways to win.

I feel like the team that executed the game plan better than anybody else on saturday was virginia by a long shot

yeah i'll tell you what tony elliott just a remarkable case study and the job that he's done and it's it's fun to see the excitement i think that those fans at virginia have that was their first sellout i think it said what 13 years or something ridiculous uh so there's that side of the coin then let's talk about florida state because i said this earlier in the show as well If you're a South Carolina fan and you're eyeballing that Kent State game this weekend, your main goal is to not feel like Florida State fans feel today.

And that is probably bitterly disappointed in the product that they put out on the field.

In this case, we also will get into some big-picture season stuff for the team, and as Coleman Johnson asked, we're going to get into score predictions.

This is the final preview for Chris and I of the week going into South Carolina versus Kent State.

What, above all else, are you looking forward to seeing this Saturday afternoon at Williams-Price Stadium other than the changes to the stadium itself? What on the field are you looking forward to seeing?

Yeah, I think, look, the biggest thing is just what does this offensive scheme look like? Like, how is it going to operate? And we're not going to have the full picture answer to that after one drive, after one quarter, even after this game.

And Wes, I think that'd be the case if South Carolina was playing Miami instead of Kent State.

Like, we would have a better sense of how good is South Carolina's offense? If they could come out and if they are still playing Miami and come out and had a great day offensively, that'd give you a lot of hope.

It will give you some hope if they can come out and have success against Kent state, but there will still be questions about how it translates to the rest of the schedule.
