The Taliban Kicked America Out → Now Afghanistan BEGS It to Come Back

Start with the win, because the Taliban never stopped celebrating it.

On August 15th, 2021, they took Kabul.

Two weeks later, the last American plane left.

And every August since, they've thrown a party.

For years, the party was at Bagram, the giant air base about 27 miles north of the capital that America ran for two decades.

The Taliban rolled captured American Humvees and tanks down its runways.

The biggest show was in 2024, with close to 10,000 men in the audience and diplomats from China and Russia in the stands, according to The Independent.

There's plenty of hardware to show off.

Pentagon figures put the American equipment that fell into Taliban hands at about $7 billion.

CBS news reporter in Kabul spotted one of those Humvees still wearing a faded Green Bay Packers sticker from whoever drove it before.

In February 2026, Donald Trump talked about those parades out loud.

They take our military vehicles and run them up a little street, he said.

It makes me angry when I see that.

Angry.

In August 2026, the Taliban skipped Bagram.

David Sidney, who ran Afghanistan policy at the Pentagon under Obama, told The Independent he thinks that was deliberate.

His reading is that they decided they didn't want to make Trump even angrier.

So they moved the parade.

Interior ministry vehicles and troops roll past the old U.S. embassy with several thousand people lining the road.

At the front was the interior minister, Sirajuni Haqqani.

Sidney called the new route much more insulting to the U.S. than Bagram.

He also says the interior ministry put out video filmed inside the embassy showing empty desks and rooms he'd worked in himself.

That's the Taliban in one week.

Careful enough to avoid annoying the American president.

Bold enough to invite his government back.
