Dragonlance Canticle Ep. 167-GenCon 2026 Announcements

There were Some announcements made.

There was some news broken.

We have Joe Manganiello in charge of a whole line of what they're calling Dungeons and Dragons icons, which includes older settings.

We've got Greyhawk, we've got Drisdord and stuff from Forgotten Realms, and we have Dragonlance.

Trampus, what were your first impressions of this reveal in the video?

First of all, I love the idea of icons because one of the things we hear so often in D&D fandom is that WotC doesn't care for the older settings, you know.

And so it's nice to see that they're saying, hey, you know, part of what... goddess here were these iconic luminaries who helped pave the way.

And so they have Luke Gygax, son of Gary Gygax, writing a Greyhawk book.

That's awesome.

You've got Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman working on Dragonlance.

And there was also a note about the Legend of Drist, you know, so Ari Salvatore was there as well.

And so Margaret couldn't make the announcement because she was running her booth, but Tracy was there.

And it was just so great seeing these luminaries on stage like that.

For Dragonlance, it was really interesting, you know.

It's like Tracy was saying something to the effect of, Well, something to the fact that, hey, we ain't going to be around forever, so this is going to be our love letter to you, you know.

And it's true.

Everybody from the old TSR days are getting older.

But it's really nice to see that They're thinking about the future and it's them presenting their vision of Dragonlance.

I know Joe Manganiello, who's going to be chief creative officer of this venture.

And I believe his company Deathsaves is kind of heading this up, but he's super excited.

And if I ever thought I was a Dragonlance fan boy, I mean, this guy is thinking about the cataclysm and tectonic plates and all that stuff.

I'm like, wow.

Yeah.

Yeah.

I think the other person, Weldon, he might rival you for being a super fanboy.
