Monday, October 12th, 2026: Police: Man accused of stabbing parents to death on Indy’s north side

A man is under arrest for murder after police say he stabbed his parents to death.

It happened yesterday afternoon on the city's north side.

News 8's Kat Sandoval has the details

This place is called North Pointe Bay.

Neighbors say it's a relatively quiet neighborhood.

Now police tape surrounds the area.

Police say the incident happened inside a home around 12:30 Sunday afternoon in this neighborhood near 96th Street and Township Line Road

I mean, it's really kind of shocking.

Uh, I mean, anytime something like that happens, I think it's shocking

Police say they found a man and a woman with stab wounds.

The mother died at the scene, and the father was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

He later died.

Police arrested the couple's son, who they suspect is responsible for their deaths.

Investigators believe the incident may have been connected to a mental health episode.

Police say the son has a history of mental health issues, and that the Mobile Crisis Assistance Team, or MCAT, had been called to the home several times

Whether it's a mental health issue or some kind of family dispute, I, I, I, you know, I don't, I've never understood how somebody's mind goes to that place where

whereYou would, you would feel that you need to kill somebody

Neighbors who knew the family didn't want to go on camera, but they said this was unexpected.

Others down the street are concerned.

Makes you a little, uh, nervous about, you know, what's gonna happen in the future and if c- crime continues to happen in the area.

Indianapolis City County Councilor Leroy Robinson responded to the crime in his district.

He calls mental health a public safety issue.

In a statement saying, "As we mourn these two lives, we owe our residents a lasting commitment to helping individuals and families before, during, and after a crisis with the goal of preventing future tragedies." Police say this is an isolated incident with no threat to the public.
