Romans 5:12-21 - Adam & Christ (Ben Clube)

First is union with Adam leads us to death.

Now, if you've been with us, Romans so far has really in a nutshell said two things.

We are all sinners facing judgment, but we can be saved freely by Christ.

Chapter 5 is just going to solidify that by talking about two men.

chapter 5 ends with a series of parallels Paul just repeatedly compares Adam with Christ so Adam did this Christ did that Adam did this Christ did that Adam did this Christ did that is there in verse 15 16 17 18 19 all those verses sound almost identical to start with it's a bit like Paul repeats himself five times but he's making the same point but the Contrast gets more intense each time.

And the first part of our big idea, that union with Adam leads us to death, is everywhere, all over the text.

Have a look down in your Bibles.

Starting at verse 12, Paul says that sin entered the world through one man.

And then verse 14 names that man twice as Adam, the first human.

And in verse 15, it says that many died by the trespass of that one man.

Verse 16, judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation.

Verse 17, by the trespass of one man died.

Death reigned.

It keeps going.

Verse 18, one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people.

Verse 19, through the disobedience of one man, many were made sinners.

He really wants us to get this simple idea.

Do you see it? Adam sinned, and we're all condemned.
