Instant Iowa State: Cyclones Fall to No. 15 Utah

Yeah, yeah.

I mean, how did you feel after the midway through the third quarter into the fourth, right? Pretty good.

Yeah, all of a sudden it's like, huh, maybe we can make this a game.

I just...

When you dig yourself that big of a hole against a really good football team, and we don't yet know how good Utah is relative to the rest of the world.

We'll find that out eventually.

But, you know, in that situation... it's usually too much, even if you mount a comeback.

But I'll tell you what, I want the team that mounts the comeback and makes it interesting and has everybody in the place fired up because it's like we came here to fight and we don't like how we played in the first half.

We don't like how we executed.

We don't like how we ran the ball up front.

You know, you look at the second half and what Iowa State's offense did, it was a very different execution.

And, you know, I...

Chris, we talk about Jalen Rayner all the time and, you know, not quite good enough, but great in so many ways.

Right.

It's like it's just

hard to.

That third quarter was it confused me because I was ready to bench him after the first half.

And then you watch some of that stuff in the third quarter and you're like, man, you can win with that guy.

Yeah, like this.

I like this a lot.

And that counter run action, you know, him realizing that he can run it a couple times when he drops back and there's nothing there.

And the draw play, right? Like the draw play is really good when he's not being spied specifically.

And...

There was a lot to like in that second half for Iowa State.

But, you know, at the end of the day, the calls went our way, right? So you can't complain about that.
