If he's so good moving around in the pocket i think that's part of the reason he's going to be such an elite nfl quarterback is because he has a pocket presence and ability to hold on the ball until the last possible moment but um he does sometimes hold on to it just a little bit too long and try and make a play and uh he'll put the ball on the ground so i think If you can get Drew Mestermaker to turn the ball over, you can obviously get him off the field, which is the best thing you can do for yourself.

So I think there are a few different avenues where Jimmy Rogers and this team can look at this film and think, okay, Oklahoma State's offense is going to get its points.

But there's also some things where maybe you can punch back a little bit.

What concerns me is, especially Bowick, he's actually listed at 6'5", I believe.

But to your point.

If Iowa State isn't extending drives, then they're going to be putting their defense on the field a lot of times, and Oklahoma State has really capitalized on almost all those opportunities this year.

It's funny how those memories of last year can influence how you think of a game, Jake, because I'm talking a lot about this week with my brother Sam, who covers Ole Miss, and he saw last year Ole Miss and Trinidad-Chamberlain and that high-flying Lane Kiffin offense really struggle against Jimmy Rogers in this defensive scheme.

So I talked to my brother, and he's like, man, that defense is going to be so tough, and That's just not maybe how things have shaken out, and certainly that's been my biggest shock as I look at the Cyclones, where you think that they're going to be leaning on this defense, and it just hasn't been a strong enough leg to lean on a lot.

So this is a opportunity for this offense to, to do some stuff and let's see.

They're going to be playing a lot of freshmen, right? Jimmy Rogers told me on Monday, or excuse me, Tuesday at his press conference, I asked specifically about this.

It's one of the reasons why he wants to go with Rainer because He pointed out that Connor Moberly on one, I think it was like the second play from scrimmage, didn't tell a tight end to move.

The guy lined up on the wrong side.

Yes.

But yeah, I don't have any faith in the state defense to force turnovers.

An interesting nugget about this game is that Jimmy Rogers and that Washington State team played North Texas last year.

When Iowa State's maybe not in a conversation to win the Big 12, and Oklahoma State is.

We'll see if Jimmy Rogers can cook something up, but I'm not going to give anything away, but this may be the first prediction in the history of locked on cyclones.

That does not go in Iowa State's favor.

It's not looking great.

It does cause some issues.

And then you have the weather and then you have the history.

And then you have the fact that Jimmy Rogers is a really good X's and O's guy.

And he's going to be very well aware.

He did not.

So I think if Jalen Rayner has been QB one every week to this point for Jimmy Rogers and this coaching staff, he's got to be QB one going into this game.

I still think a winnable game, certainly an atmosphere that you would hope the fans come out to support on Halloween night should be a lot of fun.

But, you know, nobody's jobs are on the line except for Jalen Rainers.

There's a lot riding on this game for Iowa State and Jalen Rayner.

So I think that the right move was made of who QB1 should be.

At the same time, I think Jimmy Rogers is taking a really pragmatic look at what this game means for the program two-thirds of the way through the season.

Yeah, those games against Cincy and UCF that maybe you had chalked up as, hey, you can go out and get those.

So this is a opportunity for this offense to, to do some stuff and let's see.

Iowa State really looked human last week.

Like you said, it was really the first... one of the first weeks where they look like what we thought they were going to after losing Matt Campbell late in the process and bringing Jimmy Rogers over and all that stuff.

So, uh, yeah, I, I think we're seeing the attrition of the season to eat up Iowa state right now.

I think we're one and two on squad rides this year.

Iowa State is going with Jalen Rayner as a starting quarterback against Oklahoma State.

The question is, is that the right call? Well, Jimmy Rogers obviously thinks so because he's the one that's making the decision.

Jalen Rainer, I don't think, is the problem for Iowa State.

So my ultimate kind of, is this the right move or not? I think this is probably the right move, especially when you think of all that he brings to the team from outside of the field of play.

But even inside the field of play, Jimmy Rogers talked about what Connor Moberly was kind of doing during the game and maybe a few missed motions here, there, wherever.

And maybe it's not the end of the world, but it definitely shows where Connor Moberly is at in this offense, as opposed to Jalen Rainer.
