S5 E19: Alonso’s Homecoming, Beltran Day, Future of Front Office, Bichette, Thank You Howie Rose

So first game of the Philly series.

Really scary moment, a moment that, as a Met fan, I have not seen since 2005 in San Diego when Carlos Beltran and Mike Cameron collided in center field and Mike Cameron had to be carted off the field.

Jared Young went out to grab a ball.

Nolan McLean was covering first base, and there was a miscommunication on the play.

McLean ended up essentially kneeing Jared Young right in the head, and Jared Young goes down.

had to be carted off the field.

He lost consciousness and, you know, all good things.

He did give a thumbs up to the crowd as he was being carted off and left center field.

But, uh, you know, he, he has been released from the hospital since then.

His season is effectively obviously over.

He's dealing with concussion, uh, you know, symptoms right now.

And, uh, I guess the jury's out.

Hopefully it's nothing serious.

Hopefully it's something that with time everything will be good.

But such a bright spot.

Really, really sad to see it end like this for Jared Young.

He's been such a, as I mentioned, a few bright spots in 2026.

He's definitely been one of them.

And hopefully he's a piece that the Mets bring back for 2027, maybe as a bench piece or a platoon piece over at first base, something along those lines.

But, you know, prayers up to Jared Young still.

those concussion, especially the effects can linger for quite a bit.

You know, I know myself and, you know, we just hope that everything is, you know, peachy for him moving forward.

And I know that Nolan McLean was pretty shaken up.

He did end up finishing the inning, which was crazy because he's a great person and that really affected him.

But, you know, again, prayers up to Jared Young.
