Connelly Early

Socks seem to believe it's for real.

I don't think you trade Connelly early for a guy who's having a Mickey Gasper run.

Um, that doesn't mean they're right.

The red Sox.

Let's be clear, the rotation has a lot of question marks and a lot that they need to figure out as well.

Beyond Cavalli, and hopefully Connelly Early, assuming his final rehabs go well, and maybe Alvarez, what else are you feeling good about going into next season? And, you know, we are reminded that they went to spring training this year and wound up signing Miles Michaelis and Zach Littell.

They obviously signed Foster Griffin in the off-season.

So they're not averse to bringing in starting pitchers.

The Nats are going with relief pitcher Riley Cornelio as their probable starting pitcher for the game in yet another bullpen game.

Now, you mentioned Connelly early.

Some progress at last being made here as he will make his long-awaited minor league rehab game debut for the Nats on Tuesday.

It will be in what is being termed a bridge league game in West Palm Beach.

So a little later than we would have hoped, but it is happening.

And even if he doesn't pitch for them in the big leagues at the end of this year, if he pitches in a few of these rehab games over these final couple weeks and comes out of it healthy, I think that gives peace of mind to everybody going into the offseason in a way that you would not have if he never got to that stage before the season ended.

Yeah, the Bridge League does not involve Connelly early playing cards with a bunch of senior citizens at a big table.

This is, in fact, a baseball league.

I think once he was originally scratched from his original rehab outing, that's probably when things were like, okay, we got to move on from this.

And the nationals are going to have to get themselves in a spot where they're Connelly early is going to be healthy for 2027.

And you just don't really want to play with that because they're out of contention.

They're not going to be competing.

And as much as I would love to see Connelly early, I want to see him in 2027 and I'm fine with him going out there, having his rehab outings, getting stronger and heading into the off season healthy, but, That is what should be the goal for the Washington Nationals, and I think that's what should be Connolly Early's goal as well.

But on tomorrow's show, we'll tack more into this Padres series, as I always find the Padres series a pretty fun watch for the Nationals.

And, oh boy, Connelly Early.

What the hell? He's supposed to be back.

Anyway, Connelly Early threw a bullpen session yesterday, which is a continuance of his throwing program.

He is going to embark on a rehab assignment early September, so there's still a chance that he pitches this season.

What a nightmare for me.
