New series! Strap in for a history-based episode as I recall and recount the Julia Roberts films I've seen in theaters, then the Clint Eastwood films I've seen in theaters. I'll revisit this concept…
So the first person I'm going to mention is somebody who was an enormous star, and I have really not talked about her very much at all.
I did an episode at the beginning of the podcast on a film that I really liked, Leave the World Behind.
But that actress would be Julia Roberts, the Oscar winner for Erin Brockovich, and somebody who really hit the scene like a thunderbolt with the movie Death.
Steel Magnolias and before that Mystic Pizza and a film that is ostensibly a Justine Bateman movie it was marketed as Justine Bateman's film it was a movie from 1988 called Satisfaction but now when that film is shown on TV or streaming it stars Julia Roberts and Liam Neeson and not the actual star of the film Justine Bateman because you know that's just the way it goes you have to try to get eyeballs in front of their screens So Julia Roberts, the first film of hers, I did not see Steel Magnolias.
But I really was, I was three miles away from one theater and I was about a mile and a half away from another theater, which was just a one-plex.
So either they were showing the movie you wanted to see or you weren't going there either.
The first Julia Roberts film I saw in theaters was also Not Dying Young with Campbell Scott.
And another one that was a big hit and not a good movie, spoiler alert, Sleeping with the Enemy with, what a great actor, Patrick Bergan.
