I saw one of your interviews where you mentioned my, my giddy up and I thought that was a nice little, little, uh, little thing, but it was, uh, I also thought it hopefully brought some levity, and there were definitely a lot of humorous moments, right? And Dennis himself brought so much of his natural humor.

um owing to clint eastwood's age and my age being 44 years younger than him i didn't my first clint eastwood film the first one that i ever saw in theaters is actually unforgiven which is crazy because i was already a big fan of his but i didn't see the deadpool in theaters i would have been too young nobody was going to take me to heartbreak ridge in 86 i didn't see pink cadillac or white hunter blackheart i intended to see the rookie in theaters but the new york papers fucking trashed it to such an extent that I said well there's no point it's one star across the board and these are not critics that had an axe to grind with Clint Eastwood as some you know going back to the 70s Judith Crist and to some extent Pauline Kael just couldn't stand him Rex Reed didn't like him and then all of a sudden in the late 80s had a bit of a come to Jesus and then he became a fan of Clint for the rest of his career never understood Rex's turn he didn't like him and then suddenly you know I was wrong this guy is phenomenal whatever And so I saw Unforgiven in theaters, incredible, was so happy that he won Best Picture and Best Director.

And in 93, arguably had an even better year, depending on how you look at it, because he starred in In the Line of Fire, was not involved in the production, he was just a hired gun.
J
16:46Jeremy CohenHOST
And I've talked about the torturous path and the circuitous path that Clint even took to get into that movie.
J
16:53Jeremy CohenHOST
He only got in because of Unforgiven and the buzz that built on Unforgiven in the months leading up to its release.
J
