Microsoft used its 7 October Windows event to pitch the PC as the home for AI agents, under the banner of hybrid intelligence. David picks out the two pieces that matter if you build on it: Microsoft…
So it was hard not to miss it, right? The recent announcement of the nice, shiny new bits of hardware that you can almost buy now.
I think you can pre-order, can't you? I'm desperately trying to convince my manager to buy me one, but he's away on holiday.
So I think you timed that pretty perfectly.
I mean, what? You know, between five and ten grand between friends.
I mean, come on.
But anyway.
Well, I'm not sure if this is what you're going to be talking about, but obviously the RTX Spark stuff from the new DevBox one they've got out, I was also thinking of the same thing.
So, yeah, this is from Satya.
Oh, do you see his big long tweet over the weekend? I haven't read it, but apparently he did a really long tweet over the weekend about models and
stuff.
Yeah,
And so ostensibly it was wrapped up in and around the new hardware that they're providing, but under the banner of hybrid intelligence.
As he said earlier, um, there is quite a lot wrapped up in that announcement.
So there was two things that I wanted to pull out, I think from that announcement, which was, um, the combination of local models and intelligent routing for the same and something called Microsoft execution containers.
and people are probably tired of us saying it but we we've spoken a long time on the pod about local development right and this idea of having some sort of harness that you can keep as much as possible on the machine use the hardware you've already got and then just sort of stretch into the cloud as and when you need it or when the task justifies it and you know a lot of us
you know, a lot of people in the industry have been trying to write their own harnesses and do this and do that and do the other to try and create something that does that.
And you wind up with this broken experience really, because it's never quite what you want.
Or for me, it's never been quite what I wanted.
I don't know if you, you, you feel the same
