According to Genius IQ Tracking, the Bulls rank fourth in quantified shot probability, which accounts for factors such as location, defender distance, and shooter talent.
But the Bulls have underperformed that shot quality by 11.1%, which ranks last by a mile.

And yeah, I mean, they are underperforming their shot quality by, like, 10x the worst team in the league.

So, obviously, things were bound to improve, and we talked about it last night.

That was always going to happen, but what I wanted to focus on was less about the regression to the mean.

And more about, okay, of course the ball is going to go in at a certain point, but are you creating good looks for your team? Are you just passing the ball to the corners and shooting contested threes? Or are you driving and creating an advantage and pulling in the defense and spraying it out to an open shooter? And so that's really what I think they did well.

I still think there's a lot that they can do to improve, but that's part of the reason why I think they were shooting the ball poorly is not just because they were getting unlucky, but I don't think they were creating as good of shots as they could despite what those metrics said.
