Was Harry Kane the favourite to win the Ballon d'Or?

I am delighted for Harry Kane, who's won the Ballon d'Or and therefore been crowned the world's best player at a ceremony in London last night.

He had a phenomenal season and won, obviously, multiple trophies for Bayern Munich.

His club team came third in the World Cup, of course, with England.

Perhaps could have been better, but nonetheless, a strong performance there.

And there was much debate coming into this.

He was favourite, but only slight favourite because of that point about the World Cup.

Should have gone to a Spanish player like Lamin Yamal, who of course did win the World Cup, or somebody who won the Champions League from PSG.

But he's come through with the victory.

And I'm just so pleased for him because, gosh, he works so hard.

The fact that he hasn't lifted the World Cup or the Champions League trophy this year, does this make this even more of a remarkable win for Hurricane?

I don't know about that.

I just think it was harder to be sure who was going to win.

I think this year it was genuinely up for debate who was going to win.

Some years it's obvious when the same person wins the Champions League and the World Cup and is top scorer.

But I think as well, you know, his age, 33, it's probably his last chance to win it.

And in that respect, again, it's just so, so great to see.

Well, he joins quite a hall of fame, doesn't he? And I love a good acceptance speech.

It was just lovely.

It was lovely.

And then I looked at his social media this morning to see what he's posted.

And he posted something that said, you know, work hard in silent and then let success make the noise.

And I think that probably sums up Harry Kane, doesn't it?

I love that.

I absolutely love that.

He said he was speechless and being here in London made it extra special.
