In this episode of CEOs & ABCs, Kevin sits down with Jennifer Kattula, Global CMO of Microsoft Advertising, to explore what happens when a systems thinker applies the same rigour she uses to lead AI…
Jennifer KattulaGuestKevin RiceHostWhen I look through your journey, your career path to the CMO of Microsoft Advertising doesn't look like everybody's typical kind of marketer origin story because you actually started as a chemical engineer.

I was always really good at math and science and I went into chemical engineering, kind of just picking engineering because it was interesting.

I was good at math, got my degree and realized that the jobs for a chemical engineer are usually in like small towns, kind of in the middle of nowhere.

I remember interviewing for like a paper towel factory and it was like not in a big city.

And the one class that I was really good at in college was programming, like my first coding course.

I was, you know, building websites and databases in the first dot-com era, which was really fun and exciting.

I found myself always gravitating towards the talking to my colleagues, if you will, and wanted to go back to this.
