Ep 629 - Bob Iger's New Book, Rumors about Changes to Park Entrances and Magicbands, & a Quick Review of Diamond Horseshoe Pop-Up Lounge

So like I said, Bob Iger has announced his new book entitled One Last Time, Managing Crisis and Building Resilience at Disney.

I'll get into what I think about that.

About his return as Disney CEO.

So this is debuting...

It's releasing March 2nd, 2027.

And it basically picks up where the Ride of a Lifetime book that he came out with in 2019, it picks up where that left off.

And he himself describes the book as...

This is a comeback story.

It's about what Disney needed to find its way back to its core values and what that journey taught me about leading in a time of unprecedented challenge and change.

That unprecedented word was spoken so many times during COVID.

And I just want to not hear it anymore.

What are you talking about? But this is what he said.

So what do you think, Jared? What do you think about Bob Iger's new book?

Well, if you've been listening to the show for any amount of time, I've been on the anti-Bob Iger bandwagon for a long time.

I'm glad other people have joined it.

Listen, I think it's a coalition that is growing.

And I'm not saying that Bob Iger didn't do some good things as CEO.

He did do some good things.

But I think, you know, you get to 2015, 2016, I think it kind of has a shift where it kind of, you know, it starts becoming more about Bob and not about the company itself.

And if anybody is wondering, oh, off of JPEG's book, you know, there's some allegations out there.

Like Bob JPEG said when, you know, Iger stepped down that he had foreknowledge of COVID and all these things, which I think is very interesting.

reasonable to assume like i don't think i needed like to know internal people in the government told you so uh if you're like oh is he gonna like answer some of these allegations that bob chipik out there i don't think that he is because if you look at the snippet about this book i can tell you exactly what this book is going to be about so it says robert eiger was less than a year into his retirement when he got an urgent phone call from the chair of the disney board i I'm sure Susan Arnold called Bob out of the blue when he had no communications with her the entire time as chairman of the board.

Would he be willing to return to his job as CEO? Finances were shaky.

Leadership was flagging.

Morale was dangerously low.
