So this is referring to some episode in the past where someone gave me the moral conundrum of like, you know, if you could stop any crime from happening by committing it yourself, which crime would it be? And I forget what answer we gave.

And then someone wrote in, I think last week or maybe the week before, and they said the best answer is perjury.

Because if you couldn't lie on the stand, then it would, you know, you could see the butterfly effect of that.

Hey, Brian, I think removing the crime of perjury would be a great idea, but perjury doesn't stop lying in general or murder.

I wonder how many more crimes, murders a person might commit to never have to submit testimony under oath.

Also, wouldn't the Fifth Amendment save people from perjury? even if we tend to assume they are guilty if they plead the fifth.

Making perjury illegal doesn't actually stop those other crimes from happening.

It just stops you from being able to lie about it if you so happen to get suspected enough to be on trial.
