Brian's Beat airs Saturday afternoons on WBSM in New Bedford, Massachusetts, bringing Brian Thomas' unique perspective on all things SouthCoast.
What do you think of this? Any thoughts on this? It's been around for a long, long time.
Most people at the beginning of 2026 had no idea that flock cameras or automated license plate readers were even in the city or in the town.
One day driving in by Home Depot that they were in Dartmouth, and then later on I found out I was reading in the paper where, I don't know if it was before or after the conversation up at the Pulaski School, I was reading in the Dartmouth Week about the fact that there was a conversation at a town hall, what do I want to call it, selectman meeting.
And in between those meetings, I drafted in a referendum for town meeting to actually do a vote to actually stop these cameras.
And before I had a chance to place it down there to get onto the docket, the police chief made a very wise decision.
But I find it interesting if we think back to the debate that took place between Mike Minogue and Maura Healey.
How much did you hear about the flock cameras during that debate? How much? 508-996-0500.
