My magic system and the fantasy of it tends to be very much like a metaphor for who the character is.

So if I'm choosing a specific magic for the character, it is to reflect an aspect of their personality.

And so it is just elevating the tension and the drama of whatever the conflict is in the relationship.

Because in a romance novel, There is there has to be a conflict or there is no romance arc.

And the solving of the conflict towards the happily ever after is the romance trajectory.

And so I very much want the fantasy and the magic to be part of that in who the characters are.

It's something that I am deeply passionate about and really enjoy as a part of the process.

But at the same time, I understand that the reader experiences the world through the characters.

And so you could have the coolest magic system ever, you could have the coolest world.

But if you don't have characters that the reader is going to want to spend time with, they're not going to see any of it.

And so that's why I end up being equally passionate about the character's journey.

And i love love stories i i love people falling in love and navigating that because i think it can show so much about who you are as a person and what you stand for and what you'll put up with and what you won't and where you need to heal in many times so um i love having that be a part of those character stories

It's so weird to me because I think sometimes I've spent so much, I don't know if this happens to you, but I've spent so much time with the characters that I'm like, these people are boring.
