So in your opinion, you know, why do you think a lot of men wait until they have that wake-up call before they do something versus actively saying, "Shit, my life sucks and, you know, I need to get busy and do what I need to do to be happy, to be successful, to be a better husband, better father," et cetera?
Oh, man, it comes from your point of view, right, your perspective, you know?
I mean, your misery's always changeable, but, you know, s- sometimes it's a nuclear option.
But I have a guy that I've been friends with for decades that I don't talk to anymore because he's an asshole, right? And so it, it, that was a change that I had to make.
I had to walk away from a, from a friendship there because I'm tired of this stuff, right? And so how do you do...
Dude, you gotta g- you gotta get your baseline, right? You gotta get to a ba- place where you're, where you're stable so you can make the right decisions and, and I think that that's the first part, right? We talked about PTSD.
You said that the, the psychiatrist said, "Hey, I'm not busting on you, but this," and that's where, that's what we see.
You as- you're going from you're attacking me, because that's our, that's that PTSD response.
That's also that first responder world of, you know, that fight or flight stuff, right? And so I think being an out of, out of balance veteran, I think it's pretty common.
How do you make that transition? I don't, I don't know, and I was a diver, bro.
[laughs] You know, we had some hard stuff to do, but, you know, when it came to the end of the day, no one was shooting at me, and I wasn't shooting at anybody else.
That's a different world, how do you make that transition? And then it kind of, it spirals, and then you're like 15 years into it, and you're like, "What the fuck happened?" So I, I think you gotta get yourself to a place where you can make positive decisions from a, from a basis of, "I need to fix this," and realize that, bro, I'm 58.
I have to remember, like, when guys are coming into Vegas that, dude, he's 30.
