[piano music] Do you have a typical way that you like to begin your preparation process when you get a new character?
I mean, when I get a script or a play and I read, the first step is understanding what that character is, why he's in the play, what the function of that character is within the whole story, and what that character's journey is.
So for example, I mean, the best way I can describe it is when I did A View From The Bridge 10 years ago, I hadn't done a play for 12 years.
Getting into an American film was very difficult, and we only had three channels in those days.
And the fact of the matter was I read all of those scripts and I got Eddie Carbone.
So the process, if there is one, is only required if you don't instinctively understand-
