Tyler and Kevin discuss the potential scenarios for the #8 pick in the draft.
Kevin ChouinardHost
Like if the Hawks had a flow chart for what they're going to do leading up into, you know, when they're on the clock at number eight, like, are they going to, Have a draft board of players? Are they going to trade down? Are they going to trade up?
At this stage right now, I'm assuming they're just going to take – because it's the only thing we've heard publicly.
Primarily because I don't – I think Glenn brought this up in one of our earlier pods.
There won't be room for them to play, and they probably prefer to have young veterans instead at those slots instead of rookies.
So I would suspect they're just going to stay at eight unless they get primarily because the deal they got from the pelicans is not going to be there on the table i don't think and the draft next year uh there's no like last like this this draft it was obvious there were like clear cut number one guys and the upside was great next year is kind of You never know.
Somebody might turn up and turn out to be a Tier 1 prospect, but it's not likely at this stage right now.
Combined with the new draft rules, it's probably the value of trading back for a future first probably isn't there.
Now, if the team blows you away with an offer, maybe the Hawks take it, but To me, I think they're looking to draft who they feel is the best player, the most talented basketball player available with an eighth pick.
Again, just because I really don't see a team overwhelming the Hawks with an offer that they would like to take.
Like, there's just so many guys who even right now are good rotation players who are maybe stuck behind guys in certain situations.
Well, they've both been pretty solid players, but it took one of the brothers to find a home in San Antonio.
It took him a couple stops to just get consistent playing time, whereas it's like, hey, you've been so good.
We didn't draft you, but who cares? We need you to help us win games, and now he's a starter for an NBA Finals team.
So I just think the Hawks are going to look – at that route for young talent who might have flashed one way or another but just haven't gotten a consistent take compared to draft picks because the rookies, it really is a crap shoot.
And while they do need more talent, they already have a lot of young talent they're trying to develop right now on the roster.
