Building A Great Team

You won't wanna miss the end of The Hidden ROI of Belonging.

That's when you'll get to see, uh, you know, the full, the full power of confrontation.

And confront doesn't mean to be aggressive.

It means to be assertive.

It means to build people up so they, they can hit their highest mark, because that's what the goal of a leader is, you know? You wanna see people excel.

You know, when my mother said to me one day, she said, "You think your kids are all better than everybody else in the family." I said, "Mom, it's called evolution.

If they're not better, then I messed up." You want them to be better.

You want them to be better than you.

I compete with my kids.

All the time.

My son signs a new person or he's on The Tonight Show or something like that, I write a new book.

You know, I'm like, "I gotta step it up." I, you know.

And it pushes them.

So sometimes they say, "D- let me take the lead," so I step back.

And with Mini Me, she was just on, did Shane Gillis' Madison Square Garden and the Philadelphia, and she's 4'11".

She's standing on this big stage, you know, with, uh, Dave Chappelle coming out and, like, hugging on them, you know, and Marcel Hernandez.

So, you know, to me, that's a win.

They're doing their own chapters, you know? But we got tons of chapters.

We all got them, whether we're, we're in the midst of working or we're thinking about going to Kentucky and drinking some bourbon or going to-

Yeah

... sweat your butt off at the, uh, the Illini game.

Football game, yeah.

Exactly, you know.

[laughs]

You'll be fighting the Illini.
