Join me on a Dubai travel vlog through the historic Old Souk. Stressed about planning your trip? Save hours of research and get expert advice before you book with an Ask Alex Travel Planning Session…
If you've ever wanted to see organized chaos in motion, just take the Dubai Metro during rush hour.
I started my day there trying to figure out how to get from modern Dubai to the old part of the city.
Everything looks spotless and futuristic.
Shiny stations, digital screens, air conditioning platforms, and even a gold-class cabin for premium passengers.
But the crowd's unreal.
It's like being in an airport terminal that never ends.
People rushing in every direction, announcements in three different languages, and ticketing machines that look like spaceship controls.
I stood there with my card in hand, pretending I knew what I was doing, trying not to block the locals who clearly did know what they were doing.
Eventually I made it on board, crammed shoulder to shoulder, very little personal space.
And what I love? Looking out the window as the skyline slowly disappeared.
You go from futuristic skyscrapers and supercars to smaller, older neighborhoods.
When I got off the metro and stepped into the Al Fahid historic neighborhood, it's like everything had changed.
