Don't Get Fooled Again America

I don't know if you watched the World Cup the last couple of weeks.

I did.

I watched a lot of it.

It was absolutely amazing.

I enjoyed every minute of it.

Now, do I think there was lots of controversy and calls that I thought should have gone other ways? 100%.

I think we all do.

I think that's the beauty of sports, right? We can all see the same thing and have different opinions on it.

Now, I mean, other than the United States, which didn't last long, I had no rooting interest there.

in this World Cup.

There was no Italian team.

And even though I am part German, I rarely root for Germany the way I do for Italy.

And they didn't fare too well.

I did enjoy watching Lionel Messi, who I have been watching for years.

And when my daughter played soccer growing up, my daughter's now out of high school, but Growing up, she always had Lionel Messi-branded cleats.

And I would watch him play in the World Cups, and I'd watch him play on the various club teams he played for.

I've now watched him play for Inter Miami, which is great, too.

Here's the thing about it, though, that I want to talk about.

I thought it was beautiful.

Watching people from around the world come to the United States,

be welcomed with open arms,

participate in our favorite pastime, chain restaurants, right? Really be amazed by it, right? People who come from countries known for their cuisine marveling at an Applebee's.

I thought that was just amazing to me.

I loved watching even the teams with no chance of advancing or winning the World Cup or very little chance.

I guess you got a chance.
