Taking Up The Spiritual Burden

[cheering] I pray that [laughs] the Holy Spirit will speak to us.

Amen.

I just pray that it will be a time worthwhile spent in His presence.

You know, it's been proven scientifically that we retain only 11% of what we hear the first time we hear it.

And so that's why it's advisable to develop the art of listening to messages and the art of seeing and hearing, because that's what changes your life.

Actually, when we were growing up as Christians, one of the cardinal s- um, verses was that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

So we would listen to tapes in those days because faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

But we didn't know that when you listen to tapes or expose yourself to God's word, you actually caught an anointing.

Amen.

And we didn't know that it actually opened your spirit up and would cause you to grow.

God just drew us by messages, and we just loved the messages.

It wasn't that anybody called you and said, "This is a Hagin tape, soak it in." No.

Or that, "This is a Fred Price tape, soak it in." No.

And as I told you, I got born again at a young age, so I was in SU for some time.

But then my encounter with the Holy Spirit and Charismatism begun when I went to Lagon and when I met Bishop Dag.

That's when I got to know that, uh, the authority of a believer, you can use the name of Jesus, how you pray with the word of God, and even speak it in tongues.

I'd been baptized in the Holy Spirit in my school, but I never used it because of what I went through before I was baptized.

It was a public holiday, and there was a treasury in Wesley Girls.

So my friends who were more spiritual, if you like, led me to pray with them for the Holy Ghost baptism.

We were there for hours, and I wasn't getting baptized in the Holy Ghost.

And every time they would say, "Adelaide, open your eyes.

Is there a sin you have not confessed?" I say, "A sin? Then I'll confess." I, I believe I confessed even things I've not done.

[laughs] But it didn't happen.

And we were there fasting and praying till the evening, and in the evening I got baptized.

But as soon as that happened, I said, "I will never use this.
