Cathy CurryGuestDion WilliamsHostUm, what is the single, single biggest reason housing costs so much in your ward and what would you do about it in your first year in council?

So without this sounding like an ad for Canada North, Canada North is a very popular place to live.

You look at the green space, you look at just the wonderful parks and pathways and everything else that people love.

And we have Canada's largest tech park in Canada North, right? So over 800 technology companies.

So with that number of jobs, really feeding about 60,000 jobs, Canada is a very popular place to live.

And so people want to live in Canada North and then you get to the pure supply demand, right? With that much demand for housing, there isn't enough.

So, I mean, what we're trying to do, and if you look at planning committee over the past five years, there have been days where we call it the Kanata North show, where application after application is for Kanata North and high numbers like areas in the tech park, and I'll get to that in a second, but in the tech park with thousands of units being built.

And I think my number from 2021, I think we've approved 16,000 houses or housing units in Kanata North.

So that is one of the things I will continue to move forward because that's also one of the recommendations for the Bloomberg report that was done on the tech park.
Where in the ward should new density go and where should it more importantly be off the table?
