So this text, again, uniquely, the unique part of this text, subhanAllah, is that Imam Ghazali is exploring the prayer through pretty much every avenue, but the legal side of it.
He's exploring it through the reflective and through the impact of what the prayer does and what it gives to a person.
where he said, he quoted rather I should say, he quoted a hadith of the Prophet , in which he says that the Prophet said that the servant of Allah does not draw nearer to God by anything that is better than a prostration and he included the narration prostration that's done in secret so out of everything that a person can conceive of can imagine like what can I do like what can I do to get nearer to Allah to get closer to Allah The one thing that the Prophet said is absolute, without a doubt, that will bring you closer to Allah, no matter what state you're in otherwise.
No matter what you've done otherwise, is the sujood, is simply falling into prostration.
But even outside of prayer, even if a person is not praying or not performing a salah in that moment, but they feel like they want to just make dua, they want to just connect with Allah, there's no harm, there's no problem with a person falling into sujood.
He then continues with another narration that whenever a believer prostrates, makes sajdah, then Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala lifts that person up by a degree and removes a bad deed from them.
So every sajdah that a person makes, there's two movements that are happening.
You're actually not only getting better, but you're also reducing the harm that you've done.
Like, you do another good deed, it's a good deed, but you still have to make tawbah, you still have to repent for the mistake.
In that it gives you the good, but it also erases from the mistake as well.
And so this is why when the man in the next narration, when he said, you know, O Ya Rasulullah, O Messenger of God, can you please ask Allah to include me amongst the special group that are going to be like chosen, like the elect, that you're going to intercede for them on the Day of Judgment.
The Prophet, peace be upon him, he says, أَعِنِّي بِكَثْرَةِ السُّجُودِ Help me.
Like, help me, because if you do that, then I will have a very good argument for your case.
We thought about at the end of last week, we thought about then the unfortunate juxtaposition that in the prayer itself, the part of prostration is typically the one that we rush through the most.
