Jannah

Where is he? The Prophet found out that he had passed away.

He went to the father and he says to him in that moment, think, how do you console someone who's lost a child? How do you console someone who's lost a loved one? He goes to this father and he says, don't you love that the idea that your son will be waiting for you at every door of Jannah, waiting to be reunited with you, your child is waiting for you at the doors of Jannah, waiting for you to come back to the hereafter, come back to Allah , so he can walk through the doors of Jannah with you.

So the companions around there said, Ya Rasulallah, is this only for this man? Is this only for this individual? And the Prophet said, no.

This is for anyone who's lost a child, for anyone who's lost their young son or daughter, that they will be waiting for you on the Day of Judgment at the doors of Jannah, calling your name and interceding on your behalf with Allah , saying, I'm not entering until they enter with me.

I'm not going without my father.

I'm not going without my mother.

How did they respond? They responded with patience.

And Allah will say for them, build a home in paradise.

Like we fell in love with Allah in the previous sessions, but that love has to be balanced, right? Because the prophet was Bashir and Nadir.

Like he gave us Bashir, like, yo, glad tidings, Jannah is right there.

But he was also like, yo, hellfire is there too.

Hellfire is there too.

And he would refer to her, he would say, she is my mother after my mother.

Meaning that this is someone that is his foster mother, right? This mother that he took near and dear to his heart, okay? She was one of the people that was in this first small circle and was described by the Prophet ﷺ as being given the promise that she's in Jannah.

So there's no question.

During her life, by the way, can you imagine? What would your life look like after that point? Like if the Prophet ﷺ told you, like, hey, you're guaranteed Jannah, and you're like, for real? He's like, for real.

From that point onward, what would you do? The miracle of these people is they didn't change.

They didn't change.

Let me give you the most incredible example, even somewhat outrageous.

Abu Bakr, so in the time that the Prophet ﷺ was, there was, in this society, slavery was still allowed and accepted.

So when you do these note cards, these flashcards, and you're able to gain, again, not mastery, just familiarity.

So you hear the word, you know, you're praying and you hear the word Jannah.

Okay, jannah means heaven, paradise.

It means the gardens, right? Jannah.

So then when you hear that, what do you start to think in your prayer? You're standing there, and I'm telling you, do this, it works.

You're standing there completely like, oh man, I don't know what he's saying right now.

Indeed, how many times might a worshiper pray, then understand the subtle meaning that his heart or her heart had never before conceived of? And this is kind of the beautiful point.

Just because you learned that vocabulary word once, doesn't mean now that that meaning is done.

They were very eloquent and they would recite a lot of poetry.

And so he says in couplets, يَا عُمَرَ الْخَيْرِ جُزِيتَ الْجَنَّةِ أُكْسُبُ نَيَّاتِ وَأُمَّهُنَّ He says, O Umar the good man, may God give you Jannah.

Please give me some clothes, some cloth that I can take home for my daughters and their mother.

Meaning his wife and his daughters.

He's a poor Bedouin man.

So he comes to Umar and he says, Umar, you're a good man.

May Allah give you Jannah.

Please give me some clothes for my daughters and for my wife.

So in the Meccan period, he focused, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, on tawheed, on establishing the foundation, the strong foundation that we all need.

In Islam, There is no other word that the Prophet ﷺ said or action said that do it and you will enter Jannah.

The Prophet ﷺ, he didn't tell us, pray, you'll enter Jannah.

Fast, you'll enter Jannah.

Give sadaqah, you'll enter Jannah.

But what he did say was, ﷺ, مَنْ قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهِ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةِ whoever says there is no god or deity worthy of worship except Allah he will enter Jannah and in another narration he said whoever says strongly believing from his heart he will enter Jannah So there was no other action that the Prophet said that will enter the person into Jannah.

And we can see this when one of the companions of the Prophet , he became Muslim.

He accepted Islam.

The next question, it says, I'd like to know about Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam's father and mother.

Do they go to Jannah? The second is, if your parents or loved ones died as a non-Muslim, can you make dua for their forgiveness and ask for Jannah?

So, with regards to the appearance of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, it's a very, very sensitive topic and there's one narration which someone had asked Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam about this person's own mother and the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam then said that your mother is in Jahannam and then the person was very distressed and the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said something to the effect that My parents are in the same situation.

There's also a narration of one of the authors, I think it's Imam Suyuti or Imam Bayhaqi, that have a narration that Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam had gone to the grave of his mother and had brought her to life and she had then brought Iman on him and then she was put back to death.
