Tim O’Hare is Going Down: The Future of Tarrant County

So I think Tuesday, right? September 1st.

Big, big day.

We know August 4th was the beginning of this fight for voting locations.

There was a proposal from the elections administrator, Clinton Ludwig, that was horrendous.

45% of Election Day voting sites cut.

Early voting sites were cut as well.

And the community came out.

And we fought and we pushed for them to...

Not accept that.

We saw O'Hare and Manny pivot.

And I think it was a very clear pivot.

They have a couple of tricks in their bag.

We also think that if they felt the need to pivot, they would leverage this to be able to say, okay, we'll increase some.

But they really wanted to see, can we get away? Can we get away with closing 45% of the sites? And they realized, no, we can't.

So we're going to come back to the drawing board.

So September 1st happens.

We kick it off with a rally with... impacted family members at the Trinidad River campus, TCC, right across the street from the jail.

And we hear from those community members, Jackie Johnson, the mother of Anthony Johnson Jr.

And just these stories from community members that have unfortunately had extreme loss from the conditions that people have to endure within the jail.

And unfortunately, family members that have died within that space.

So that started off the morning.

We then walked to the county courthouse across the street from the commissioner's court because Lon and EJ have a radius, they have to keep a distance.

So we were on the east side of the courthouse.

And we just had incredible just energy from the community.

Sabrina Ball, kudos to her for all of the organizing she does for these type of events.
