There's some very distressing news that has happened today, and unfortunately many of us are actually not even aware of it.
The Texas Board of Education has today voted on changing the curriculum, the curriculum pertaining to Islam and Muslims and Islamic civilization.
And unfortunately, that has now passed through, it appears, and therefore the new curriculum will have phrases about our faith that are extremely negative.
In the past curriculums, there were sections about Muslim contribution to science, to algebra.
The Arab slave trade, there's a section now on that one, as if they didn't have their one as well.
They have added the Reconquesta, that the, the, the Spanish, uh, uh, Ferdinand and Isabella, they reconquered the land that was theirs.
The basis of where it happened is now no longer there, and they say that America was the first to ratify the State i- of Israel, and the rightful owners returned to their land.
These phrases have been now added, and the horrific events of 9/11 are being portrayed as coming straight from radical Islam, right in the textbooks of a 10-year-old.
And the worst of all, the one that really hurts us the most, they have said things about our Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam that I'm not gonna repeat from the minbar.
Adjectives have been used that are very, very astaghfirullah, and that's going to be in the curriculum.
Why do I say this in the khutbah? I say this in the khutbah because unfortunately what we are seeing now is the hijacking even of the educational system by the bigots and the Islamophobes.
Even children's education has now been something of a political agenda, and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict has now been immersed even into children's schooling.
And to present Islam in a negative light and to remove anything negative about what every civilization has...
