In this episode of Work-Life Boundaries, we continue the Seasons of Life series with a conversation for the Christian working mom who is starting to grow again — but doesn’t want to fall back into…
One of the reasons, at least that I know, that a waiting season can feel so uncomfortable is because it exposes what we've been trusting and where you've been the one to waste time in distraction.
Ouch, no, like when things are moving and grooving and it's just working, it is very easy to feel secure in what we can accomplish.
and asks you to stay still long enough to hear him clearly, that's when you start realizing how much of your peace was tied to the constant going and movement and chaos.
So pruning is not fun.
It is definitely not fun.
Nobody gets excited and is like, oh, goody, Lord, please cut away the things I've been leaning on.
He has so much grace and so much mercy because he will remove what cannot sustain the season that he is calling you into.
He will cut back what looks productive, but it's not actually producing peace and moving you in the direction that he's planning.
He will slow down the version of you that has learned to survive on pressure so he can grow something more rooted in him that looks healthier and steadier.
And that word steady, I think, you know, I've done a word of the year maybe once or twice, but if I had to go and choose one now, steady would be it.
Like I want God to steady my brain and my heart, steady my striving, free my nervous system from the constant itch to move.
You know, I think that matters so much for you, the working mama listening right now, because maybe you are in that middle place, not fully in the waiting anymore, but but also not fully in the flourishing.
And you can feel that growth beginning.
You're starting to see God stretching and rebuilding your perspective, which might make you a bit scared, honestly.
What does this mean? If life starts blooming again, you'll go right back into overcommitting, overthinking, overworking, and probably carrying all those things you're not supposed to.
And if that's you, I just want to say, girl, I get it 100%.
The waiting can be so, so hard, especially when you're a fast paced person and just ready to see the fruit.
But then comes the actual learning and commitment to come out of the waiting to grow differently.
You know, for the past several months, I have been stuck in the best way in the book of Hebrews.
And something I love is that it reminds us that faith was never about having everything figured out.
It's specifically in chapter 11.
It begins by saying that faith is the reality of what we hope for and the evidence of things we cannot see.
