Heaven

This is where it is all leading to.

This is where God wants to take us.

This is the plan and the intention that has been in the heart of God before the foundation of the world.

So I want you to get your head around that.

But let me just repeat what John has said here.

We've had it read to us, but it's a pretty simple passage.

What we read at the beginning of chapter 21 is that John sees a new heaven and a new earth...

Because the first heaven and the first earth have passed away.

In fact, let me draw your attention for one moment to Revelation 20.

If you've got your Bibles or reading devices open, have a look at verse 11 and think of this.

Because John in chapter 21 is telling us he sees a new heaven and a new earth because the first heaven and the first earth passed away.

Look at what it says in verse 11 of Revelation 20.

Speaking about the one on the great white throne from whose presence earth and heaven, look at it, fled away.

That's power.

Here is Jesus on the great white throne and earth and heaven have fled away.

Now we come to chapter 21 and John sees a new heaven, a new earth and then in verse 2 he tells us, he says, I saw a new Jerusalem.

I've been rethinking that through a gate, but I am more convinced than ever that the New Jerusalem is an actual city, and you will see that as we look at this subject this morning.

So John sees in this vision a new heaven, a new earth, and a new Jerusalem.

But here's the first thing I want you to know.
