Teacher fired for offering extra credit for cash donations. Pet cemetery is over capacity so please stop leaving your dead pets.

[upbeat music] A high school teacher has been fired after she offered her students some extra credit if they gave her cash donations.

Are we sure she wasn't just teaching a course in how the US government works? [laughs] I mean, if it's good enough for the Supreme Court, it's probably good enough for the kids.

Shouldn't they at least learn this? Let me, let me fix the title for you.

High school teacher teaches children how the world actually works in 2026.

I mean, it's sad, but I'm not wrong.

[laughs] I mean, I heard a couple weeks ago that my own leader is gonna give me $5,000 if I vote a certain way in November.

I mean, I say all this to say this teacher, uh, wasn't being nefarious by any means, just trying to teach them how things work out there in the world of business and government and just life in general, I think, and that's helpful.

Hey, I mean, compared to what some of the other teachers are doing to the kids, this ain't so bad, right? [laughs] This isn't so bad.

You know, the other ones are running fight clubs.

All right, a lot of this is tongue in cheek.

Let's find out what's really going on at an Iowa high school where this teacher was let go for offering students some extra credit in return for cash donations to her personal GoFundMe account.

Her personal GoFundMe.

What was the GoFundMe for? Give this teacher a vacation to the Bahamas.

Hey, I mean, you can't afford trips on a teacher's salary.

You gotta have a GoFundMe on the side for your trip to the Bahamas.

The teacher's name is Stephanie Malailie, and she taught at the high school in the Clinton Community School District.

She told the students that she had set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for what she described as, quote, "personal education goals." [laughs] Yeah, personal education.

I wanna know how it...

I wanna know what it's like to swim with dolphins.

Gonna learn a lot about swimming with the dolphins.

Yeah, now donate to Stephanie's Learn How to Snorkel campaign.

It's happening in Fiji [laughs] this summer.

Stephanie's going to the Amazon to learn how to brew ayahuasca.

Please donate to that, children.

Don't you want your teacher to fulfill her education goals after all? Now, Stephanie allegedly told her students she had set up the fundraiser to help pay for her education, adding that if they made cash donations, they could earn extra credit toward their grade in her class specifically.
