V is back for a solo catch-up on everything currently occupying her brain: The Vow, Taylor Swift, Calamity Club, and Dancing with the Stars. She also gets into the very real mystery of why she’s so…
But of course, since then, I have been doing what I do, which is consume TV.
Really, when you get down to it.
Okay, so my friend Lindsay, shout out Lindsay if you're listening, told me that I need to watch this docu-series called The Vow, which is on HBO Max.
And It is about the cult Nixum, which I don't know what I was doing when this story was unfolding, but I really didn't know anything about it.
I think it was happening in upstate New York, but I could be wrong.
I feel like I should just call Lindsay and have her on, to be honest.
But it was this guy named Keith Raniere who...
Really, when you get down to it, was this weird sex addict businessman, which, I mean, aren't they all? Aren't they all? But he was able to get celebrities involved.
I mean, there was like some pretty... high up people.
It spread as far as locations and just like geographic reach and got pretty big.
So However, the interesting part about the docuseries is that one of his very higher up guys was filming and trying to get footage for Keith himself, like the cult leader himself.
He wanted to be filmed.
He wanted to get as much footage as possible.
So this one guy was doing that, like I said, and eventually rebelled and went against the cult and against Keith and however, had all of this footage.
So the docu-series is literally showing what's going on on the inside, which I think is why it's so fascinating.
And so Lindsay put me onto it.
It is long.
That is the one thing I will say.
Like I think...
As much as I want to see all the inside stuff, I feel like it could have been condensed into like a really fast paced, just like intense three part documentary.
But it's two full length seasons of like nine episodes and they're long, long.
So it's a bit of a time commitment, I will say.
However, the first couple episodes really suck you in and they fly.
So if you can kind of stick it out, get invested.
If you're looking for something to binge, you're into culty things.
