John Casmon reveals how a corporate wake-up call, house hacking, multifamily syndication, mentorship, cash flow discipline, and aligned family goals helped him build financial control while growing…
John CasmonGuestMatthiasHostI think I have a lot to say on this because there's a number of things you've touched on that are really powerful.
I think it sounds very clear that that day you defined your why.
It was ironed into your soul, if you will.
I want to have...
I want to take the control, you know, into my own life and into my own hands.
And that's definitely something that I talk about a lot.
You know, when people talk about getting in or thinking about, you know, becoming a real estate agent or kind of just being, you know, in the world of being self-employed or, you know, owning a business, that kind of stuff, it feels scary.
It feels like, you know, you have to go out and like, you know, you're going to you're only going to eat what you catch.
Right.
And there's something intimidating about it when you're on that other side.
But but once you get into it, once you actually see the success, once you put in the work and you see the success from it, would you say that you feel a lot more secure there? in your position in life from a financial standpoint after having, you know, taken kind of, yeah, that income, that stuff is now kind of all on you, right? It's no longer can be taken away like from, you know, being laid off from a, yeah, my company.

I don't know if secure is the word I would use, but I definitely feel more empowered.

And what you're getting at is, and to be clear, it's easy in retrospect to say, hey, in that day is the day I decided to become a real estate investor.

So something was telling me like, all right, if everybody's trying to give away the real estate they own, it's probably not the right time to be investing or I'm missing something.

And again, I didn't have the hindsight or the understanding that this was a global economic downturn.
