When eight-year-old Tazne van Wyk disappeared somewhere between her home and a tuckshop, just two houses down, in 2020, the country held its breath. Her community expressed its rage at how dangerous…
Nicole EngelbrechtHostHe was born with a twin sister, Nazli, and they had six siblings, so a family of eight children in total.
The Pangaka family home was not a particularly safe or happy one, unfortunately.
In addition to struggles with poverty, Pangaka's father was incredibly abusive, and the children witnessed a lot of violence toward their mother from their father, as well as toward the children.
The neighborhood the family grew up in was also a gang hotspot, and substance abuse abounded.
Pangaka did not complete much of his schooling, and from most records, he doesn't seem to have made it into high school The man doesn't appear to have really had any occupation at any time in his life, except for working as a bouncer on and off.
From the early 1980s, when he was still in his late teens, he was very much just involved in crime.
His earlier offenses were mainly car theft, housebreaking, robbery, and the like.
But it wasn't long before his offending became violent, and he was regularly convicted of assault.
Panga Ka was constantly in and out of prison, and we'll get into why this was so problematic later, and also some of his more heinous offenses.
But suffice to say that if he wasn't in prison, he was committing crimes, and many of these more serious crimes went unreported for a long time.
On the relationship front, Panga Ka actually had many relationships, countless relationships, actually.
As is the case with many serious offenders like Panga Ka, he was extremely charming and manipulative, and in his heyday, actually quite a physically attractive man.
But it also didn't take very long for these women to discover who he actually was, and then they had to try to escape him, which very few did unscathed.
In fact, when asked how many children he had, the number constantly changed.
But when asked to name his children or provide their birth dates, he could only name two and had no idea when they were born.
I will also say that at least two of these children were not the result of relationships as such, but rather of rape.
And this is where it gets a little difficult to explain some of his crimes without identifying the victims.
