And we begin with the airline sector as United Airlines was reportedly pitched a merger with Delta Airlines.

It came late last year, uh, but after consideration, the potential mega-merger deal did not come to fruition.

This is, uh, all according to a report from the Wall Street Journal.

People familiar with the matter revealed that the, um, United's chief executive officer, Scott Kirby, actually called up Delta's CEO a- as a part of the efforts to pitch the merger, but it ultimately didn't go anywhere.

Uh, earlier this year, United was rumored, uh, to be, um, trying to merge with American Airlines.

They, uh, pur- reportedly met with, uh, President Unit- uh, President Donald Trump in late February, and they pitched the idea of merging and, uh, w- with American Airlines, and at the time, American came out and said that, "We are not engaged or interested in a merger." So a lot going there.

I, I don't really know what's going on with United.

Seems like maybe they're struggling, although the CEO is adamant that it's not about struggling and it's about the bigger picture.

So Jen, your thoughts on all this.

Um, yeah.

I don't, I don't know that, um, regulators would have w- approved that one.

Yeah.

But the interesting part to me, I did some digging on this.

Um, if I'm not mistaken, United acquired Pan Am's Pacific routes and Delta acquired Pan Am's transatlantic routes.

So had this merger taken place, it would've been like Pan Am all over [laughs] again.

Yeah, just Pan Am.

Um, like an old global, like, empire under one roof again.

But, um, yeah, I don't, I don't, I don't know what United's doing, but, um, maybe just stay in the lane.

Yeah.

It's interesting on this.

I don't know where, what, what will come of it if they're gonna try to get s- some help elsewhere or if, uh, it's very interesting.

I mean, there's a lot more, um, aviation, uh, I wanna say, I don't wanna say nerds, but, uh, that's, that's, some of them self-
