Tips for Work and Life with Andrew LaCivita
Sep 29, 2026 · 32 min · 10 segments
Why do people freeze in job interviews? It's not because they can't think fast enough. It's because they're trying to think about too many things at once. What did they ask me? What should I say?…
All right, first thing, not to steal, you know, like the Sun Tzu thing, but I do think you win it right before it starts.
If I had
a nickel for every time somebody at the live office hours said, Andy, I got an interview this afternoon.
You got any last minute tips? Or I get asked that in the MileWalk Academy system or on the blog.
And one of the things I am really big on, anytime I do anything, right before this show, right before I write an email to you or I write a section in a book or build a course, is I have a ritual where I think about, I just relax, I get myself in order, and here's what I wanna offer you.
I want you to go through a ritual, all right? And I use the word ritual, not routine.
A ritual is designed to make you perform better right as you're about to do something, you go through a ritual, more than a routine, in order to get this thing in order.
So every time I sit down and I'm going to give you a talk like this, I think I just I clear my mind.
I really start my focal point on you, not me or my delivery, not trying to memorize my lines, not trying to memorize a script, not trying to remember all the umpteen points I got to give you over the next 30 minutes or however long this is going to be.
I know it's about you in regard to you want the job or you want to perform well in the interview.
And if you started focusing on them and serving them and what are they about and who are they and what they need now? Thinking about them, I really want to spend a minute or two here on this.
