The Brendan Gallagher one's a bit of a redux, but I want to start with Monty because I think you and I maybe were a bit dismissive of like, "Well, he's gonna be gone." And there has been, I think, Arpon Basu's been, been the main guy saying, "Hey, like, you probably don't need to move him." Right? "You don't need to just jettison him outta here, and maybe it's better for Fowler to be the starter in Laval versus the backup in Montreal," whatever.
So it's been around enough that I thought we'd-- it deserved to, like, be talked about again.
So Brian, what do you think will happen to Sam Montembeault over the next four to six months?
[lip smacks] I think that if he has any value, he will be moved.
I just wanna say that right off the get-go.
The question is, does he have any? Um, you absolutely cannot have three goalies.
Like, that we were talking about last year when Monty was serviceable as being a problem.
Like, prior to everybody recognizing, oh wait, he's not serviceable anymore.
Uh, at least he wasn't last season.
Um, was it a blip? Was it the aftermath of the injury? That's what I'm curious about.
Because if he comes back to full form how he played two, three, four, five years ago, uh, as, as I forget who commented on one of our last videos where I thanked Montembeault for his services.
Hmm.
And somebody promptly said, uh, "You're thanking him for denying us Celebrini for being good when we were trying to tank?" Okay.
He also made it so that Nick Suzuki didn't want to either leave the team or off himself.
So there-

... there's something to be said for that.
Yeah.
Um, [lip smacks] what I'm most fascinated by is if Montembeault can get back to form.
Because if he can, then he has value.
Uh, he could be a serviceable backup to Dobesh because I think Dobesh has completely taken a stranglehold on the starter role.
And then Fowler, yes, would get closer to 45, 50 games in the A, which might be better for his development anyway.
So I, I'm, I'm not adverse to that at all.
Like, keeping Montembeault to me does not seem that crazy.
Can you risk Monty playing the same way he did last year for the first quarter of next season?
