What If Success Scares You: She waited until 62 to discover what was really holding her back

So, you know, when I went through your book that you kindly sent me and you write very openly about spending much of your life feeling that your voice didn't matter, which probably reflect in your career as well.

And even that you didn't matter.

So how does a belief like that formed when you were very young, quietly shape the choices you make decades later without us realizing it? Can you detect the pattern or how you overcame that?

Hmm.

That's a good question.

I think some of it is just keep moving forward.

Just understanding why I felt that way.

You know, going back to my mom was so involved with three little kids.

And so even though she was, you know, she was a teenager and she was, you know, she had a lot going on.

And so she, she wasn't trying to ignore me and she, and I'm sure she didn't ignore me.

But when there's three babies, three other babies running around, you kind of feel like you don't matter.

And again, like I said, that wasn't the case.

You are so

much older than them.

Are you?

No, there's five, five years.

Five years.

That's not much.

Yeah.

And then I am the youngest of four children.

And between me and my oldest sister was nine years.

Oh.

And she felt like she had to be babysitter for everybody.

And, you know, it's a different dynamic.

And I was surprised that was not very welcome.
