It just simply can take time.

And now I think with the attacks that we've seen on the Postal Service, what we're seeing is more and more people having real concerns about putting their ballot in the post box and instead putting them in the post.

Instead, that's fair.

I think that makes sense.

And what we've seen is those ballots in the drop boxes will probably get here faster than those going into the postal service on Election Day.

And to me, I would generally think that that's going to be the more secure way to to to cast your ballot this in this election season and probably beyond, given the kinds of attacks that we've seen.

So did unaffiliated to an extent.

And so why was that? Well, it was either the COVID hangover was just fading and Democrats really embraced mail balloting during COVID and in 2022, they were still doing that to an extent.

It could be that, but most likely is also that Trump's threats on mail ballots and people were concerned that the Postal Service might not deliver their mail ballot to election offices and so they might decide not to use a mail ballot.

And that would be why the Democrats in particular are the ones that are being affected by this.

Another interesting dynamic that's in the data is that people returned their mail ballots sooner.

So they were either using drop boxes or using the mail sooner because, again, they may have been concerned that their mail ballot might not be delivered through the Postal Service back to election offices.

Well, if you wonder, though, don't you, Michael? You've seen video, I'm sure.

I've seen video, for example, in Alaska, where people have literally, the line goes, you know, it's like an indoor mall, but it goes up and down corridors and down long, long, long lines.

Make sure you get those ballots turned in by Tuesday at 8 p.m.

It may be too late to mail.

Depends on what you believe about the Postal Service.

I recommend a drop box.

Always do.

I voted in October 8th by mail, something I did in my very first election in 1966 when I was a senior at B.C., And I walked my ballot down and had it notarized by the city clerk of the city of Newton, and then I walked it over to the local post office and mailed it.

And I've always had faith in that system and in the Postal Service to deliver my mail accurately and on time.

So this administration has issued a couple of executive orders that have been struck by the courts.

One, as we talked about last time, with regard to the Postal Service and directing mail-in balloting.

Another one creating a federal list of registered voters, which the federal government just historically has not done.

71.5% of ballots returned prior to the weekend arrived via a drop box.

Election officials are concerned that as a result of recent changes in its operations, the US Postal Service can no longer guarantee ballots will be postmarked on the day they are put in a mailbox.

Roughly 20,000 ballots cast in the August primary did not get counted because they arrived too late.

Anyone thinking of mailing their ballot today or on Election Day should go into the post office and request a manual postmark at the counter.
