This episode! With Mik on a plane to Japan, Dalton and Willie dive into the interesting, surreal game known as Squirrel Stapler. Did we manage to make the wife beautiful, or did we meet God? Tune in…
Well, you know, I dug this one up out of nowhere because I just kind of randomly remembered it existed.
And because we've been playing so much dungeon crawling type stuff lately, you know, with Shujinko and Diablo, I was like, you know, I'll remember another game that had some fun stat go up features to it.
So I went and opened up Melvor Idol.
which I had through the Epic Store.
The thing about Melvor Idol is it is heavily based on the leveling up system from RuneScape to such a degree that, in fact, Jagex, the company that... publishes RuneScape also publishes it.
They don't take place in the same universe, but they use a lot of very similar terminology and mechanics.
So it's almost like an idle game grinding and leveling up simulator where you can work on like, you know, your wood cutting, fire crafting, cooking, fishing, a bunch of different combat skills.
I said RuneCraft earlier because RuneCrafting is one of the skills.
Um, like 50, 60 different things you can, you know, uh, do.
And then there's also a town you can manage and, you know, pick up gold to basically, uh, increase your inventory space so you can have more stuff to do other different stuff.
And it's all just very, um...
I don't know, it gives you a bunch of numbers to go play with, so it felt kind of nice.
And the last time I played it, I had never played the original RuneScape before, but in between then and this time playing it, I ended up re-rolling a new character in this game because I had played a little old-school RuneScape.
And I'll tell you, yeah, the experience is really shockingly similar to playing a game without playing that game.
I have fired up Melvor Idol before because I also got it free from the Epic store.
But that's an inside joke.
There's one exactly like maybe two people laughing their asses off right now at that.
But I remember opening up Melvor and I played it for like an hour and I'm like, I have no fucking clue what I am doing.
I am just clicking things and some of it's going up and I feel like I'm not doing it right now.
It's just one of those things, too, where you'll want to find something you want to be doing later.
And so, you know, if you want to be smithing, you're going to be wanting to do a bunch of mining, for instance.
So, you know, mine up a bunch of iron.
So, or not even iron at first.
Mine up a bunch of copper and tin so you can smith, smelt them together into bronze and smith bronze gear.
