Over the past few years, we've seen fewer places investing in ambitious, creative work, and there's more and more pressure to conform, make everything a video feed, make everything branded content.

That's why we started the Sonic Dash and the New York City Podcast Awards, to celebrate the talent, skills, and imagination it takes to make great audio storytelling and audio.

So twice a year on each solstice, we challenge audio makers from around the world to create a two-minute piece entirely from scratch.

That means no pre-existing music, no sound effects libraries, archival footage.

Don't use it.

Sometimes people get away with it sometimes for a very, very, very useful reason, but usually not.

No generative AI.

You make all the sounds.

At stake is $1,000 cash money.

Tons of industry-defining software and hardware with microphones and thingies and computers.

Basically, we're an Emmy Award-winning sound studio, and the tools that have changed our lives, we want to be able to give in nice little packages like Oprah.
