We talk a lot on this podcast about unlearning, unlearning hustle culture and inherited ideas of success.

So who then should we learn from? Often those working behind the scenes, connecting the dots and facilitating the spaces have the most inspiring stories and not enough of the public recognition.

My next guest Andrew is one of those people and when I first met him I just thought this conversation needs to be on the podcast.

Andrew Missingham started as a drummer and record producer playing in top 40 UK singles, serving as musical director on gold certified recordings and producing what is widely considered to be one of the finest South African jazz albums ever made.

He then spent three years running music projects for the British Council across 43 countries in Africa, the Middle East and South Asia, and subsequently led the performing arts program at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London.

Following a nervous collapse in 2020, he rebuilt his life and tries to honour his mantra, which he has tattooed on his left arm.

Now working as an independent consultant and strategist, Andrew has practised Vipassana meditation for 1,300 consecutive days and counting, and he plays the drums daily.

We talk about gentle masculinity and what it looks like to be a man who leads by listening.

And so I'm excited for you to dive into this conversation recorded here at Brazen Studios and sponsored by Greek swim and resort wear brand Kione with Andrew Missingham.
