Southbank Centre

I was, you know, living my life, and it was going on somewhere out in the middle of nowhere.

But they did a discodrome in London, and they did it at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, which is in London's South Bank Centre.

And they invited my brother and I to be part of this.

And so we played it as a duet.

[laughing] He's also president of the Writers' Guild of Great Britain and gave a speech yesterday entitled Authorship in the Age of AI at London's Southbank Centre as part of their Creative Intelligence Summit, arguing that writers and artists need urgent protection.

Jack is one of the most in-demand screenwriters of today.

His credits include the TV drama Adolescence and the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

But Luigi's basically been at Glastonbury, Tate Modern, Costa Rats, The Cutty Sark, Like a Pirate.

He's a South Bank Centre veteran.

He is very much all over the place, doing festivals, doing street theatre, doing street poetry, and his books out on Broken Sleep, which is just incredible, an amazing work of like 20 years in the making of fantastic poems, really exciting stuff, and you'll be able to pick one up at the festival.

One of our workshop facilitators, Maria Cahut as well, a Romanian writer living in Brighton.

And we also do a play in Glasgow in April.

And we've got a big date at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in the South Bank Centre.

Oh, fabulous.

Next October the 9th.

because I mean like I'm not really like what the kind of person who's like kind of gushing very much apart from so and normally I write fiction when I'm doing prose so it was a bit of a weird especially when I'm doing stuff like this and going around like talking about it and stuff it's it's quite an odd experience for me because I'm not always in the booth

we've got some events coming up to promote the book you're doing the Southbank Centre yeah do you have any expectations for the book it's come out

um so i was wondering you know how did that come about is it something that you put to them or they approached you or

So I booked parking and I parked and And Julie walked into the box office only to be told I was at the wrong hall.

I'd gone to the Royal Albert Hall, not the Royal Festival Hall, which would make more sense given that the tickets came from the South Bank Centre and the Royal Albert Hall is most definitely not on the South Bank.

So I did arrive late, but I did get in.

They let me in 15 minutes late, but they wanted me to walk to my seat, which was all the way right in the middle of the auditorium.

How are things? Things are good.

Well, high energy from us all as we plummet back to reality from a tremendous live show at the Southbank Centre on Saturday afternoon.

Goal hanger, absolute class operators.

I felt like I was treated like a king, Dave, especially when

artists um well the artist's bliss body which which is mark anderson and project dark which is um kirsten reynolds who's um now a visual artist actually she lives in hastings um mark still well made and still makes basically machines that make noise and have some visual visual impact he does quite a lot he's an internationally renowned artist he was at the time Kirsten also had many strings to a bow she's does beautiful oil paintings at the moment at the time she was playing quite aggressive noisy music and her project dark also used to do a show where they blew up as in made explode record players so we teamed up with them for a devised show devised from scratch which was something the brief was something to do with sound and light and the relationship as we called it the photophonic experiment and we toured the uk in a big tour bus with a kind of trailer full of scrap metal on the back, which was Mark's instruments, homemade instruments.

And, yeah, we did the South Bank Centre, the Norwich we did, Colchester Arts Centre we did as well, Midlands Arts Centre.

Yeah, that's when you might have seen the name.

The show itself would have been a very loud... very aggressive sounding experimenting noise.
