UNEXPECTED ENCORES with Joel and Scope featuring Kiwis assistant coach Steve Price and Sydney FC's Ben Garuccio

Uh, lots of texts rolling in.

Um-

A lot of crick- a lot of cricketers on there, Sug.

There's a lot of crick-

Yes

...

Patty Hayden-

Yeah

...

David Martin.

Yep.

Um, you know, like there's a lot of pressure associated with getting that baggy green early, right? And it doesn't happen straight away, and probably going, we're gonna see examples of that probably in the next five years, uh, with all these sort of veterans, uh, retiring in the last two or three years.

Well, that's a big question, boys, and we s- I sort of talked to you about it too, Sug, about the selection that the Australian selectors, like with Constance and McSweeney and Weatherald have come in and out.

Renshaw's come in and out.

Madinson's had a, had, had a dip, come back in.

Like it, just so much, like change.

It must be really tough for the Australian cricketers mentally.

If you're not in the clique, if you're not in the, the seven constants, going in and out, going to Shield, going over to c- play county cricket, playing T20, then getting like four, five years out of the team and coming back in, and then you have to score from the get-go because there's gonna, gonna be some other hot commodity that's-

Yeah

... you know, s- in the wings.

I feel like it's one of the most pressurized sporting positions in the world, being in the Australian cricket team, particularly with the bat at the moment.

Well, imagine Nick Madinson going in for that second innings.

H- how much Ciriaco would've been on him?

[laughs]

A- a- and you know, it's a good point.
